Low Tide Gaming is Surfside Beach’s new sensory-friendly gaming lounge, created with inclusivity and comfort in mind. It offers everything from retro classics to the latest consoles, calming sensory zones, and a strong community focus. Grand Palms Resort guests can enjoy exclusive discounts.
Located at 799 Hwy 17 Business South, just next to Rave’s Restaurant, Low Tide Gaming officially opened its doors in summer 2025. Housed in a space transformed by the non-profit Beachfront Blessings, this unique lounge offers a quiet, inviting place where everyone, including people with sensory sensitivities, can enjoy gaming in peace.
A Vision Born from Experience
Owner and general manager Will Pamplin helped reimagine what a gaming lounge could be; balancing fun for all with thoughtful sensory design. As he explains:
“I really want to push this sensory-friendly … As somebody on the spectrum, myself, it helps a lot.”
What Makes It Unique?
Sensory‑Safe Setup: Each station features noise‑cancelling headphones, soft adjustable lighting, and customizable seats to reduce sensory overload.
Diverse Gaming Options: From retro classics like Atari 2600 and Pong to modern systems such as PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, plus board games to round out the experience.
Welcoming Library & Events: A curated game library, sensory break zones with calming tools (weighted blankets, soft music, sensory toys), and quiet areas invite meaningful downtime.
I recently visited Low Tide Gaming myself and was blown away by the welcoming atmosphere, the variety of games available, and how thoughtful every detail was. I especially loved seeing the Nintendo Switch 2 in action and getting the chance to play the new Mario Kart World, which was a highlight for any Nintendo fan!
