Updated: December, 2022

Our goal is to continually update and improve the guest experience at Grand Palms Resort. We've been hard at work achieving this aim, especially over the last few years with limited supplies and resources. This article highlights the updates that have been happening in and around the Resort. They include (click to go to the desired section):

Resort Improvements

We've been super busy making lots of improvements for you to enjoy on your next vacation at Grand Palms Resort. Here are a few of the improvements you have to look forward to:

Switching Phones from analog to digital

New IP Phones in the Condos

We've almost completed our conversion of all the older analog phones to new digital phones in the condos. These phones work via the internet versus the old that used aging buried copper lines. They provide you a much clearer sound. The goal is to have this project completed by the end of 2023.

New Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter

New Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter - As you walk along buildings 229 to 243, you may notice the beginning of sidewalks that will eventually create a continual path all along the road on the odd side of the buildings. There’s also sidewalks to the trash receptacle areas so that you can keep your feet clean and dry as you take out the trash. We redid the roadside sidewalks on the odd-side of Double Eagle Drive between building 201 and 223. We’ve added curbing to the even side of Double Eagle Drive from the Activity Center entrance to building 212, creating a more clean-cut and beautiful aesthetic. This also improves drainage when big storms come our way. We’re added curb and guttering to the Platt Boulevard round-about and in front of buildings 229 and 231. We've redone the entrance to the Outdoor Pool making it more ADA-friendly. *Don to provide map of details to Clarise, parking lot, repaving/sealing, sidewalks, etc.

Lighting, Landscaping, Windows, Decks, and Doors

Lighting and Landscaping - As we move along the road with curbs and sidewalks, we have added bollard lighting along the sidewalks and outside the Outdoor Pool entrance. With new curbing and guttering comes new landscaping. More than 12,500 sq. ft. of new sod has been laid so far with more to come! In addition, a new water well has been added to support the new landscaping - 700 ft. deep and runs 1,000 gallons per minute. *Bill to provide Clarise a map of new bollard lighting locations.

Window Replacements - 158 windows were replaced from 2021 - 2022. Older windows will continue to be replaced throughout the Resort.

Deck Replacements - 51 decks have been rebuilt over the last three years. Update info here - Clarise to get with Steve.

Door Replacements - A total of 30 exterior doors were replaced in 2021. Update info here for 2022 - Clarise to get with Steve. Door replacements are still underway.

Seal Coat for the Brick Exterior - a Multi-Year Project

Building 200 & 202 - Seal coating has been applied to Building 200 and Building 202 is underway. There are several benefits to sealing the brick such as preserving the brick and its mortar, preventing water damage (due to its water-resistant nature), and overall saving time and money on any repairs associated from brick deterioration and water intrusion. This is the beginning of a multi-year project, with the end goal to complete all the buildings throughout the Resort.

Take part in our activities and special events at the Activity Center!

What was once called the "VIP Center" has been transformed into the "Activity Center" located within the gate of the outdoor pool. This is where all of our activities and special events will be held throughout the year. This building features a lookout view of the outdoor pool from our relaxing lounge chairs, plenty of space to get creative with our activities, and a projector for movie nights!

Since we moved our weekly activities to the Activity Center, it freed up some space in our Event Center! We added in a ping pong table, expanded the arcade, and created a lounge area for our guests.

Outdoor Pool Bathrooms Remodeled

Both the Men's and Women's restrooms at the Outdoor Pool have been remodeled to include touchless features and are completely renovated to match the restrooms at the new Front Desk building.

Construction in the Community Surrounding Grand Palms Resort

New Construction Has Begun Around the Resort

The Ocean Palms residential development has begun construction on its second phase of homes along side of our Resort behind the odd side of Double Eagle and Presidential Drives. Beach Village has begun clearing the land behind the even side of Double Eagle Drive. Although there may be lots of dirt to see now, we hope that these new developments will only add to the view of what used to be part of the old south golf course. And once the dust from the construction has settled, we will be planting additional palms and other beautiful greenery between our new neighbors and the Resort. We're committed to making Grand Palms Resort your vacation oasis and a beautiful vacation destination for you now and for years to come.

Directions from the Old Front Desk to the New Front Desk - INSERT NEW GRAPHIC & Description

With all these road changes, you may ask, "how do I navigate to the Resort?" The new Front Desk and the new gas station are easier than ever to reach using the new traffic light at Platt Boulevard. Many of our guests have found themselves at the old Front Desk for one reason or another and we’re here to tell you that the trip from the old Front Desk to the new Front Desk is a simple matter. Simply drive around the right (North) corner of the old building to the new building as shown in the graphic.

The distance is enough that we recommend driving unless you really want to get your steps in; the distance is around 300 feet from the old Front Desk to the new Front Desk.
