Our New Logo

At the beginning of 2021, Plantation Resort was renamed Grand Palms Resort. This name change shifts emphasis from the Resort’s location within the Deerfield Plantation community to the unparalleled vacation experiences that the Resort has provided over the last 45 years and will continue to provide in the future for thousands of visiting families and owners.

“The last few years have brought exciting changes to the Resort,” says Blaine Liljenquist, CEO. “Our partnership with Wyndham Destinations enables us to offer new vacation opportunities to our owners. The beautiful, new check-in building that opened in March 2020 heralds a new level of quality that will continue in Resort-wide upgrades over the coming years. And our new name that more closely reflects our values of providing exceptional vacation experiences to our owners and guests."

Resort Improvements

We've been super busy making lots of improvements for you to enjoy on your next vacation at Grand Palms Resort. Here are a few of the improvements you have to look forward to:

Freshly Painted Fitness Center

New Shuttle Wrap Designs

Our new shuttle bus designs are seen here in action! Each bus has their own custom design, which one is your favorite? - Dolphin, Sea Turtle, Palm Tree, or Pineapple

RFID Locks Project

RFID locks have been installed to all the entrances to our amenities.

RFID Locks Project - All locks on the condo doors have been replaced with RFID locks, replacing the magnetic stripe locks. Simply touch your key card to the white block at the top and unlock the door to your vacation. These locks will keep your unit secure and they will last much longer than our old locks because they are much more resistant to our salty air. We've also added RFID locks to all the entrances to our amenities - Outdoor Pool, Indoor Pool, Activity Center, and Lazy River.

Turf at the Outdoor Pool

Artificial Turf - Along with our salty air, pool locations are notoriously bad environments for grass. In addition, the outdoor pool's grass is in a high traffic area making it difficult for it to thrive. So we've upgraded the grass at the Outdoor Pool with artificial turf. Beautiful!

Switching Phones from analog to digital

New IP Phones in the Condos

We've almost completed our conversion of all the older analog phones to new digital phones in the condos. These phones work via the internet versus the old that used aging buried copper lines. They provide you a much clearer sound.

New Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter

Enjoy these improvements on your Myrtle Beach Vacation at Grand Palms Resort, formerly Plantation Resort.

New Sidewalks, Curb and Gutter - As you walk along buildings 229 to 243, you may notice the beginning of sidewalks that will eventually create a continual path all along the road on the odd side of the buildings. There’s also sidewalks to the trash receptacle areas so that you can keep your feet clean and dry as you take out the trash. We redid the roadside sidewalks on the odd-side of Double Eagle Drive between building 201 and 223. We’ve added curbing to the even side of Double Eagle Drive from the Activity Center entrance to building 212, creating a more clean-cut and beautiful aesthetic. This also improves drainage when big storms come our way. We’re added curb and guttering to the Platt Boulevard round-about and in front of buildings 229 and 231. We've redone the entrance to the outdoor pool making it more ADA-friendly.

Lighting, Landscaping, Windows, Decks, and Doors

Lighting and Landscaping - As we move along the road with curbs and sidewalks, we have added bollard lighting along the sidewalks and outside the Outdoor Pool entrance. With new curbing and guttering comes new landscaping. More than 12,500 sq. ft. of new sod has been laid so far with more to come!

Window Replacements - 125 windows have been replaced from 2017-2021. 30-40 were replaced last year. Older windows will continue to be replaced throughout the Resort.

Deck Replacements - 51 decks have been rebuilt over the last three years.

Door Replacements - A total of 30-40 exterior doors were replaced in 2021. Door replacements are still underway.

Seal Coat for the Brick Exterior - a Multi-Year Project

Building 200 - Seal coating has been applied to Building 200. There are several benefits to sealing the brick such as preserving the brick and its mortar, preventing water damage (due to its water-resistant nature), and overall saving time and money on any repairs associated from brick deterioration and water intrusion. This is the beginning of a multi-year project, with the end goal to complete all the buildings throughout the Resort.

Poolside Event Center

Take part in our activities and special events at the Poolside Event Center!

What was once called the "VIP Center" has been transformed into the "Poolside Event Center" located within the gate of the outdoor pool. This is where all of our activities and special events will be held throughout the year. This building features a lookout view of the outdoor pool from our relaxing lounge chairs, plenty of space to get creative with our activities, and a projector for movie nights!

Activity Center/Arcade Updated

Since we moved our weekly activities to the Poolside Event Center, it freed up some space in our Activity Center! We added in a ping pong table, expanded the arcade, and created a lounge area for our guests.

Outdoor Pool Bathrooms Remodeled

Both the Men's and Women's restrooms at the Outdoor Pool have been completely renovated to match the restrooms at the new Front Desk building.

Construction in the Community Surrounding Grand Palms Resort

Enjoy these improvements on your Myrtle Beach Vacation at Grand Palms Resort, formerly Plantation Resort.
New Construction Has Begun Around the Resort

The Ocean Palms residential development has begun construction on its second phase of homes along side of our Resort behind the odd side of Double Eagle and Presidential Drives. Beach Village has begun clearing the land behind the even side of Double Eagle Drive. Although there may be lots of dirt to see now, we hope that these new developments will only add to the view of what used to be part of the old south golf course. And once the dust from the construction has settled, we will be planting additional palms and other beautiful greenery between our new neighbors and the Resort. We're committed to making Grand Palms Resort your vacation oasis and a beautiful vacation destination for you now and for years to come.

Directions from the Old Front Desk to the New Front Desk

With all these road changes, you may ask, "how do I navigate to the Resort?" The new Front Desk and the new gas station are easier than ever to reach using the new traffic light at Platt Boulevard. Many of our guests have found themselves at the old Front Desk for one reason or another and we’re here to tell you that the trip from the old Front Desk to the new Front Desk is a simple matter. Simply drive around the right (North) corner of the old building to the new building as shown in the graphic.

The distance is enough that we recommend driving unless you really want to get your steps in; the distance is around 300 feet from the old Front Desk to the new Front Desk.
