Before our golf outing, my husband did his research to understand what made Prestwick Country Club different and why we should spend a day golfing there. One of the first things he discovered was the creators and designers of the golf course, Pete and P.B. Dye who are an iconic father-son duo in the golf industry known for their beautiful and difficult to play golf courses. What makes a Pete and P.B. Dye course so special is the level of difficulty isn’t too high that an average golfer cannot succeed, but at the same time challenges more seasoned players. Not to mention their signature deep bunkers and railroad ties add a uniqueness to their course design. Even I, someone new to golf, could recognize the well-kept conditions and beauty of the course. This was what originally drew us in to play golf at Prestwick Country Club, but there were other elements that impressed us and allowed us to have an enjoyable golfing experience.

Southern Charm

As we drove down the road to where Prestwick Country Club resides, we noticed the road was engulfed with large, green, and lush trees. The beauty continued as we pulled into the country club and saw the large and beautifully designed pro shop that embodied southern architecture. The rest of the course left us speechless.

Impeccably Kept Course

My husband has been a golf lover for most of his life, so he was the perfect person to show me, a beginning golfer, around the course and help me understand the details of this well-designed course. Before our tee time began, we went to the driving range and the chipping and putting greens. Even on the practice greens, my husband recognized the impeccable shape the greens were in. As he played through each hole, he confirmed that "the greens were in some of the best conditions I have ever played." This is an impressive statement considering the number of golf courses he has played in his lifetime.

Friendly Staff

One thing that struck us both was the quality of the Prestwick Country Club staff. They were extremely accommodating, informative, kind and enjoyable to talk to. They know what they are doing, and they are eager and willing to assist their customers. Their customer service was a major highlight for me that day. Though our golf game wasn't up to par that day, we left Prestwick Country Club eager to return again soon.
