Being new to the area, I was clueless as to what I should do in my free time. There are so many things to do in and around Myrtle Beach, I didn't know where to start. After asking several friends and acquaintances, many recommended Brookgreen Gardens, which has quickly become my favorite place to visit. Brookgreen is rich in history, art, and nature. I like it so much that I keep going back again and again to experience all it has to offer! You won't want to miss out on the one of a kind experience that is Brookgreen Gardens.
My Experience
I visited Brookgreen Gardens multiple times this summer with family and friends, and each time has been different. My friends and family all agree that Brookgreen Gardens is one of their favorite activities while visiting Myrtle Beach and it is easy to see why once you've been here.
I find a lot of peace and solace in nature, and Brookgreen Gardens is no exception. I'm enamored by the large grand oak trees with Spanish moss dangling from their limbs, the different species of flowers beautiful in their own unique way, and the many sculptures. While visiting the gardens with my mom, we encountered a sculpture that was created by one of our relatives. I was unaware that we had a sculptor in the family. What a fun surprise to see something a relative created in person!
I appreciate that at Brookgreen Gardens, there is something for everyone to enjoy. They have beautiful botanical gardens, American sculpture, rich history, and a zoo. There are many different exhibits that happen year round appealing to all different types of vacationers, age groups and family members. They even have a children's garden and hands on activities for the little ones!
A summer event that is offered is a light exhibit called "Summer Light: Art by Night." It is a fun and beautiful way to see the gardens light up at night, and it also includes live music and food trucks; the perfect way to spend a summer evening.
